This weekend I did the biggest cook I've ever done

This weekend I did the biggest cook I've ever done. It was my wife's family reunion, and I made brisket and chicken for about 150 people.

This cooker was built from scrap by her grandpa several years ago before he passed. It is awesome!

What I love about this meal is how easy it is to adapt. Sometimes, like today, I use the @campchef; sometimes I am more traditional and cook it in coals. You can use different meats, add or subtract onions, peppers, corn, or whatever else you like, but with the right spices and bbq sauce it always turns out delicious!

Like much of the world, my company transitioned to remote work. If there's one advantage to working at home, it's that I can throw something on the smoker in the morning and pull it off for lunch!

These are some quality wings from @donsmeats, marinated in vinegar and a blend of spices, and slow smoked at 225 for about 2 hours. They turned out juicy and delicious!

I wanted more color in this meal, so I used red potatoes, shrimp, and some greens. In the end it all kind of blended together. Just a reminder that it's harder than you think to get great food presentation!

I finished my basement last year, so this year I'm turning my attention to the back yard. Worked hard this weekend to get my garden planted and mostly put together my pathway. Moving all that flagstone is exhausting!

So I rewarded myself with a steak pan seared in butter with garlic and rosemary, then sprinkled with salt and pepper. Totally worth it.

I was supposed to be enjoying a Chicago hot dog at Wrigley Field tonight, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. Our flight is too early to catch the rescheduled game tomorrow, so we're drowning our sorrow with another steak dinner.

This is one of the best steaks I've had in my life. So tender and flavorful, topped with garlic butter.

On the side was maple bacon, brussels sprouts, and truffle lobster mac and cheese.

It doesn't make up for missing my Cubbies, but it was an excellent meal.
